It’s a foggy, balmy morning. All is quiet on my part of the north coast. But this morning’s walk came with an unwelcome surprise.
While walking the trails my biggest fear is of falling and breaking bones or spraining something. My right ankle has been sprained numerous times during my life so I try and error on the side of caution. I’m in good condition but not an Olympic qualifier. This morning I had my mouth open because I will admit, I was panting while Baxter and I climbed to the headland summit. Without any warning a small insect flew right into my mouth and hit the back of my throat. It caught me totally by surprise. I started coughing and choking to try and eject the little bas***rd but to no avail it was a lost cause. (My mind flashed back to childhood days riding my bike.)
I don’t carry water on my morning walks. In this case I’m not sure that it would have helped. I had to ingest the pest and continue on (ewwww, I know). I’m going to be optimistic that this insect isn’t carrying anything and just passes on thru. Today I plan to drink A LOT of water.
Happy Friday! We have made it thru another crazy week. #iluvtowalk #walkingmakesmehappy #baxteronthego

At least you didn’t fall off the trail and hurt yourself while coughing.

True. And fortunately Baxter and I were the only ones up there. Someone else could have been worried about Covid-19 the way I was hacking trying to spit it out. 😬
