Baxter and I were back on the headland today. Pulling support from my light weight high-top hiking boots, I was able to take our spin around the headland with no problem or knee irritation. I was worried earlier this week that I might have jeopardized my ability to do so because of my Covid-19 sheltered in place carelessness with foot support. Hanging out at home who worry’s about their choice of footwear right?
How you treat your feet does make a difference. Whether or not you go anywhere. Without proper foot support you can (I did) reek havoc with your knees and hips. Think of it as the weak link in the chain. Your feet are responsible for carrying your weight and maintaining your balance. Without their support you are doomed.
I observed a woman my age (over 21) on the headland today taking the walk in slip-on sandals. I couldn’t help but wonder if she’d later regret that decision. In addition to the elevation changes, the terrain on the headland includes pavement, heavy gravel, and then undeveloped dirt and rock trails. All the makings of uneven footing. I can only imagine what runs thru the minds of a trained professional. I am sure they have clinched their teeth more than once when observing what many of us take for granted. Mobility is king in my mind. I’m in the market for a nice lightweight, boxy toe, high arch, high-top walking shoe. If you have any suggestions please send them my way. #iluvtowalk #walkingmakesmehappy #baxteronthego
