Today’s Walk: Beating the Wind

Monday June 29, 2020

Summer weather along the coast of Northern California (actually Oregon too) can vary greatly and create its own challenges. It’s cooler along the coast, which I personally prefer, with temperatures usually averaging between 60-70 degrees. When the winds are calm it is quite comfortable. Last week our mornings included heavy fog which lifted and morphed into warm sunny afternoons. This week our mornings have begun sunny and relatively warm but by mid-morning an addition of high winds are making havoc with anything trying to remain upright. For example, our artichoke bed is currently taking a beating as I write this post.

Baxter and I got out early this morning and completed our headland walk before the wind picked up. We dodged a fallen tree that apparently blew over in yesterday’s wind and was blocking the trail. On our way home my trusty walking buddy stumbled upon a small snake and could have cared less. The same dog who will chase birds, small mammals and flying bugs to flush them out of our backyard. Kinda interesting. I guess he knows a threat when he does or doesn’t see one. No deep thoughts to share today but for those needing an escape, I do have some beautiful pics. #iluvtowalk #walkingmakesmehappy #baxteronthego
