Today’s Walk: Spotting Naked Ladies on a Sunday Morning

As Baxter and I took an early morning spin around the headland I noticed that the Naked Ladies (Amaryllis Belladonna) are in bloom. Headlands provide great visual advantages; note the image of the blue house and its lovely border of Naked Ladies. It’s a unique Lily native to South Africa that blooms in August. Some find it kind of unsettling. I’ll admit they are an unusual plant and not for everyone. Not in my top ten but intriguing nonetheless because of the late summer pop of color.

Both the ocean and Trinidad Bay were flat this morning; perfect for kayaking and fishing. The only people who beat us to the base of the headland were the fisherman and fisherwomen, both commercial and sport. The parking lot was packed with rigs and boat trailers. Happy Sunday. Enjoy the pics! #iluvtowalk #baxteronthego
