Yes this morning was foggy. But, it was a high fog with pretty good visibility. It was also an awesome day at Big Lagoon because hardly anyone was there. We launched our kayaks at 8:10 am and with the exception of a handful of swimmers, we had the lagoon and the adjoining Maple Creek to ourselves. At the end of our trip, we did pass a woman and her young daughter paddling near the campground area. This morning was a great day to kayak. Note to self: don’t always judge the day by the weather forecast.
During our two hour paddle we saw quite a bit of wildlife. Today’s tour included a River Otter family of five who as we observed were joined by a second adult making the sighting a total of six otters! These appear to be the same group of five we reported two weeks ago. We also saw two Roosevelt Elk bucks, two Great Blue Herons, one Snowy Egret, a King Fischer diving for fish, 15 cormorants, a bunch of plovers, swallows, the usual vultures, and fish jumping. I wished I had a telephoto lens; my cell phone pics didn’t really capture the best of the wildlife. Enjoy the pics. #iluvtokayak #humboldt #igettodothis
