Our air quality is coming in at 160 this morning which is not great; 150 is where they draw the line between healthy and potentially hazardous. We’ve got a fairly heavy morning fog which seems to be cleansing the air.
I have been watching with interest activity on the headland that many people might not notice or take a second look at. We have installations from a traveling poet and QR code’s from an internationally played game called Munzee (see pics below).
Poet Greg Bee’s work has been showing up on the headland for awhile, in the form of stickers posted on to metal posts and signage. According to his website: Bee is a traveling poet, storyteller and motivational speaker based in Eureka, CA, where he is a registered nurse, mental health advocate and community activist. His work deals with gender and sexuality, as well as social and political issues.
The Munzee AP1 is a game that can be played virtually or on location using your cell phone. It’s a scavenger hunt kinda game. According to their corporate info: the goal for Munzee has always been to encourage physical activity in relation to technological advancement and real world discovery. There are currently over 472,000 players. I like scavenger hunts and Munzee’s stated mission. The game appears to be free and in addition to the headland we have other local sites involved like the Sequoia Park Zoo in Eureka. I might just join in and play. With eyes wide open there is a lot to see out there. #iluvtowalk #baxteronthego #humboldt #trinidadcalifornia
