Some things are beyond our control. The recent power grab for RBG’s Supreme Court seat is a painful reminder. Although this partisan double standard is not within our direct control, there is something that is, and that is our constitutional right to vote.
If you have already voted, I thank you. If you have not yet voted, I implore you to do so. It’s a hard earned right that should not be taken for granted and it’s an important way to make your opinion count. Your registered vote is the only way public servants know what you want. It may not always seem like it, but voting does matter. Votes do get heard.
We are one week away from the 2020 Presidential Election. Because of some nasty shenanigans, in some states voters are standing in line for 8-10 hours to overcome the roadblocks created at the polls. In California, Oregon, Washington, and others we can comfortably sit down at our kitchen table, vote, and then drop our ballots in the mail or county drop boxes. It couldn’t be easier. Voting is a right, not a privilege.
Please don’t take your right to vote for granted. The earlier you cast your vote, the better. I learned that as of this morning, Humboldt County has only received 1/3 of the ballots from its registered voters. If your in this pool, what are you waiting for?
