Wow! Whoever is on Biden’s Inauguration Team deserves big kudos for an amazing job. I had no idea I was going to cry so many tears of joy. The events inspired me, giving me comfort and great hope that our nation can move forward. It’s like the chaos of the last four years has been put to rest and the dark looming cloud has cleared from the sky. I noticed during the ceremonies that people were respectful and courteous to one another. I heard thanks being given to ushers and others working the event. No pushing or shoving or saying inappropriate things. No nasty behavior. No bullying. We’ve been reminded of what’s appropriate and it feels good.
I was comforted and inspired by the words of President Biden and Vice President Harris. I was impressed by the new White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki, who talked about a return to transparency. I was particularly moved by our new National Poet Laureate, Amanda Gorman. Her insight and genius with words was one of the highlights of the day. While listening to her recite her brilliant inauguration poem, I couldn’t help but think about my maternal grandmother and mother who taught me that words have meaning. That words have power and that you should choose your words carefully. Something that was unfortunately void from the consciousness of our 45th president.
Because the inauguration ceremonies started early, today’s walk was an afternoon beach walk. A break to give myself time to process all the presentations I had just observed. I also needed a break before sitting down (again) and watching the awesome Inauguration Concert and spectacular fireworks display. America is back and sending a strong message.
Enjoy my pics. It was a gorgeous 60 degree day with no wind on the beach. Kinda befitting for such a glorious day. #iluvtowalk #inaugurationday #nationalpoetlaureate #trinidadcalifornia #humboldt #humboldtcounty
