Today’s Walk: Stress Busting on the Headland

I don’t know what I’d do without access to a walking route. Burning energy on the headland trails has not only helped improve my fitness level, it also has kept me sane. Life throws punches and at this time I’m going to admit that I’m at my maximum capacity.

Feb 2 will be the two year anniversary of my husband going on dialysis due to a degenerative kidney disease. To ramp things up a little, for the last two weeks my father, who lives in another state, has been in the hospital. Oh, and then there’s the Covid pandemic which means our family couldn’t visit him. On Monday of this week a medical team basically gave us a dire prognosis on Dad. Today, they are talking about discharge from the hospital sometime next week. It has been an emotional roller coaster ride to say the least.

The silver lining in all of this is that it looks like my Dad is bouncing back. He’s a strong and determined guy. Our son has been approved as a kidney donor in the National Paired Donor Program so hopefully in the next few months a match will be found for my husband and we will close this chapter of our lives. Visions of hiking and kayaking together await!

One of the most valuable things we have is our health and life comes with no guarantees. Carpe Dieum or seize the day whether it be by trail or treadmill. Enjoy my pics and thanks for following. #iluvtowalk #baxteronthego #trinidadcalifornia #humboldt #humboldtcounty
