All of us experience the ups and downs of loss. It’s just a fact of life. Doesn’t make it any easier but, it’s part of the deal. How you come out of the fog associated with that loss is up to you. Relationships are exhausting. In order for them to be good ones, you have to give a piece of your heart. When you lose that piece of yourself it can take the wind out of your sails.
I’m currently processing the death of my father. I know it will take time. My family is instep with me, each managing their grief in their own way. My go to solution to lift my spirits, is to get outside and take a walk. Digging in the dirt of my garden is a close second. This week I’ve taken multiple walks and shopped at five local garden stores. Some might call it avoidance behavior, I call it grief management. Both walking/hiking and gardening are solitary activities that connect me to nature and give me time to think. It’s how I process things.
This morning we experienced a -1.99 tide. Not the lowest tide we get but it comes close. There is an arch on Trinidad State Beach that is only accessible by foot during the minus tides. When life gives you lemons, take advantage of nature’s opportunities and make that lemonade. I got myself out the door and down to the beach this morning because I didn’t want to miss this special opportunity. It really does bring me joy.
I hope my pics brighten your day. Enjoy! #iluvtowalk #trinidadcalifornia #humboldt #humboldtcounty #minustide
