Today’s Walk/Kayak: Off to a Good Start

If the last few weeks are any indication of how our summer will go, we maybe in for a nice one. That is, as long as the fire season is kept to a minimum. The scary part is that there are a lot of brown landscapes just to the south of us already. Summer has not technically started (Sunday June 20) but Mother Nature did not get that memo. It seems to me like we are there, a few weeks ahead of schedule. Water levels are lower than they should be. In the Bay Area there is discussion of a mandatory 40% cutback in personal water use. If you go camping, pull a trailer with a chain or do anything else that can spark a fire, please take great care when doing so. The landscape is dry and ripe with kindling.

On the other side of the coin, the great weather is providing wonderful opportunities for recreation. Photo ops abound, it’s a terrific time to get outside and move! Whether it be on foot or via water, we have had some fabulous days! Baxter and I have been keeping up our usual routine on the headland and I was fortunate to get on the water and do some kayaking. The local lagoons and bays have been nice and flat in the mornings. Part of the beauty of these outdoor excursions is the terrific photo ops. Enjoy my pics! #iluvtowalk #iluvtokayak #trinidadcalifornia #humboldt #humboldtcounty
