Mushroom season has started so for today’s walk my friend Sara and I headed up to the park. Just 20 miles north of us is Redwood National and State Parks. One of my favorite trails within the park is Hope Creek which is located within Prairie Creek State Park and is an approximate 4 mile loop that makes a 600 foot elevation gain. The trail is heavily forested and features a lot of trillium and other native plants. Today’s trek was my third time this year hiking the trail. It’s a beautiful walk not overrun with other hikers and today we had the trail to ourselves. There are lots of Rhododendron on this trail so I plan to come back in February or March to see them in peak bloom.
Our hike was followed by a brown bag lunch on the beach. There are multiple beach access points surrounding the park. I like to go to the Thomas Kuchel Visitor Center because not only is there easy beach access, they have complete restrooms. Enjoy my pics! #iluvtowalk #hopecreek #redwoodnationalandstateparks
