Today’s Walk: Seasonal Shift

Baxter and I took our morning spin around the headland and entered into a somewhat animated environment. Our weather quickly shifted from fog to sun and then later to cold afternoon rain. The sky this morning was quite dramatic and is reflected in my pics.

Fall is here with wild abandon and even the animals seem to be responding. Apparently some humpback whales were circling the headland the last couple of days, stirring up the fish. A reliable source estimated that we had about a thousand brown pelicans on the nearby off shore rocks. The CA sea lions were also hanging out, making their presence known by barking loudly.

I’m seeing a lot of new faces on the trail. Some are tourists but I’m guessing some are new residents. The real estate market has been red hot with quite a few local home sales. So the pot seems to be stirring both on land and in the nearby waters. I passed a couple on the trail who thanked me for having Baxter on leash and warned me about a loose dog on the trail ahead. I’m overjoyed if this is any indication of the temperament of our new neighbors.

The city of Trinidad has a leash law. Sometimes it seems like that law is some kind of secret. Leashing one’s dog helps keep everyone safe and contributes to a more positive experience for all. It also demonstrates courtesy and respect for others. As the owner of a fiercely protective terrier, I greatly appreciate it.
