Today’s Walk: Let the Storm Season Begin

We are on the cusp of our annual storm season and the skies on this morning’s walk are a beautiful testimony to what’s coming our way. Starting tomorrow, the weather forecast shows a solid week+ of rain and the Marine forecast is that the surf will shoot up to 10 ft. Significant and dangerous in its own right, but not remarkable given that winter storms can produce waves 35 feet high.

As Baxter and I walked along, the surf was slamming against the headland and Petole Island. The harbor has been emptied of its fishing and sail boats. Looks like the community is ready and braced for the coming storm surge. While exiting the headland I met some Japanese tourists who told me they had gotten drenched by the incoming waves while walking along Trinidad State Beach. It’s time for some PSAs to go out.

I’ve been summoned for jury duty this week. If a trial materializes, Baxter and I will need to wait to break out our rain gear. Enjoy my pics! #iluvtowalk #baxteronthego #trinidadcalifornia #humboldtcounty #humboldt
