Today’s Walk: Finding Peace & Humility on the Beach

For me, taking a walk on the beach is one of the most relaxing things I can do for myself. It’s interesting because beaches are very dynamic environments. The crashing surf, tidal fluctuations, swirling water, seasonal shifts & erosion constantly create change that results in a physical reconfiguration of the beach. It’s anything but peaceful.

Here’s what I’ve come to realize. Spending time on a beach may be peaceful because, the ocean is a reminder that there are things out there greater than ourselves. The power of water is tremendous and by getting close to it, one has to humble themselves. Maybe that’s why the sights and sounds of crashing waves bring peace. Maybe I’m going off the philosophical deep end….but how many times have you walked a beach awe inspired by the natural phenomenon before you?

Enjoy my pics. Looks like we have 10 dry days forecast for our area. Plenty of time to get out and comfortably walk the beaches, trails or neighborhoods. #iluvtowalk #oldhomebeach #pacificocean #humboldtcounty #trinidadcalifornia #humboldt #perspectivesfrommytrail
