Yep, you heard me correctly, we have summer weather in Trinidad and it’s only January 22. Today we experienced little to no wind with temperatures in the low 70’s. It’s amazing and expected to continue throughout the weekend. My be prepared Girl Scout training had me wearing layers this morning only to be shedding clothing and accessories while on today’s walk. Temperatures can be deceiving because they vary in the shade, full sun, and at sea level. I like to be prepared. Thank goodness for windbreakers with big pockets.
Baxter and I walked Trinidad Head and did some beach combing on nearby Launcher Beach. It felt so good to have the warm sun on my face. Along the way I chatted with one of our local resident birders. Some of the usual birds that nest on the headland have been kinda quiet and she expressed her concerns. Trinidad is getting better well known (visited by more and more humans) and there appears to be a lot of new trail blazing on the headland. The concern is whether or not this is disturbing some of the nesting sites. Of particular concern is the peregrine falcon pair known to nest here; there haven’t been any recent sightings. Fingers crossed that this is not the case.
Enjoy my pics and the great weather if you live locally. #iluvtowalk #baxteronthego #trinidadcalifornia #humboldtcounty #humboldt
