I grew up seeing the television commercials featuring celebrity athletes on Wheaties cereal boxes. Those commercials and their corresponding cereal boxes inspired multiple generations of children. Wheaties, the breakfast of champions is now 100 years old. I liked the marketing pitch and the cereal but as far as breakfast goes, I prefer eggs and high fiber toast.
My morning walks energize me in a way similar to the Wheaties promise. (Disclosure: I prefer to take my walks before eating breakfast.) These walks set the tone for my day and our fur baby Baxter’s day as well. Beyond the obvious cardio and muscular benefits, the infusion of the visual sites and sounds, and just being outside, does so much more for me than a bowl of celebrity cereal ever could. I have found that on the days I skip our walk, my attitude changes (and not for the better) as does my energy level. My husband says I am addicted to the endorphins. Maybe so, but I also really believe that spending time amongst nature, rural or urban, makes huge differences in long term health. There is quite a bit of research to support this. Go ahead, Google it.
We seem to be getting a lot of transitional weather as Spring tries to pop its way back into our lives. Today’s walk has a variety of weather associated with it. Enjoy my pics and don’t forget your wheaties; however you get them. #iluvtowalk #baxteronthego #humboldt trinidadcalifornia #humboldtcounty
