I had heard that there were nearby trails that would take one down to a cool water feature and a dramatic geologic display dated from the Miocene period. Ancient lava flows brought in the basalt that formed the base for our “new to us” neighborhood. Because I don’t like wandering by myself on unfamiliar trails, I waited until I had company.
Today’s walk was a spectacular 3.5 mile walk that had a total elevation gain of 588 ft. My sister and brother-in-law and I made the trek on the variable terrain which was not only interesting but included spectacular views. The sites also included a waterfall, a tree fort and swing, some of my favorite native plants, and great places to relax and/or meditate. We wished we had packed a lunch!
