About My Blog

Susan Tissot

Connector of Dots. Intrepid Explorer. Creative Type. Using relevance as a tool.

After years of resetting myself with daily walks on the beach and local headlands, I realized just how stressed and buried I was by my professional life. For 35 years I worked in the museum profession, 22 of which was as an Executive Director for five different organizations. Don’t get me wrong, I love my profession and enjoyed my time in the field immensely. I am proud of the many ways we made a difference in people’s lives and the level of community outreach we achieved. I loved the creative and educational aspects of the job. We connected the dots for people and connected people to each other. Creating relevancy between the past, present and possibly the future. But maybe at times I took myself too seriously. Being Type A and worrying about every detail, the impacts of our actions, and whether or not I was going to make payroll takes its toll. So here I am today, very fortunate to live along the very beautiful Oregon coast.

Our backyard is located near miles of hiking trails in state and federal parks, National Monument sites, beautiful beaches and a stunning headland within my neighborhood view shed. I believe in Guardian Angels and that things happen for a reason. My husband and I were able to come full circle during our careers and return to the the location we met, the stunning Oregon Coast.

One of my favorite things to do is to take walks in the forest and on beaches. In rural or cityscapes. I also like to experience places new to me. I realize that not everyone has the opportunity to enjoy these locations. Thru this blog I hope to be able to share some of the beauty I’m fortunate to experience. To introduce a unique perspective. My posts will include glimpses of my daily walks and other travel or life experiences focusing on my perspective of the landscape before me. Occasionally I will share family experiences trying to impart some wisdom. I hope to bring joy and/or meaning to all who view my posts. Thank you for taking the time to follow!
