Today’s Walk: it’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Baxter and I are back on track and much happier. We got out the door early and enjoyed peace and quiet on the headland. With the exception of a few singletons leaving as we arrived and as we parted, we had the trail to ourselves. It’s overcast but no wind or rain. The ocean is flat; a great day for kayaking. (As we descended from the headland I noticed two kayakers paddling their way around the base of the headland. Sweet!)

In the quiet there is a lot of wildlife to observe and/or listen for. A Peregrine Falcon pair nest on the headland. Sea Lions often hang out below on the off shore rocks along the north side. Partridge, rabbits, weasels, songbirds, sea birds and Canada Geese are part of the neighborhood mix. The rabbits mess with Baxter’s mind. Sitting on the trail ahead of us, knowing just when it’s the right time to leap into the steeply sloped brush. Good thing Baxter is on a leash or he would be long gone, tumbling down the steep slope and into the ocean. A situation I never want to experience.

It’s time for our morning tea ritual followed by a good stretch. Here’s where music comes into play in my life. Our Sonos system fills the house with music as we get ready for the rest of our day. Or while sheltering in place, sometimes that means all day. Carpe Diem! #iluvtowalk #walkingmakesmehappy #baxteronthego #Jackrussellterrier #jrt

FYI: Attached to this post is a short video clip that shares some of the morning’s soundtrack along the trail.
