Today’s Walk: Sunday Stroll

Sunday June 14, 2020

For today’s walk my husband and I took a gamble that the crowds would be at the beach instead of heading out to Elk Head. It was a gorgeous Sunday and my prediction was correct. Once we walked past the College Cove beach trailhead we had the remaining headland trail almost to ourselves. Only a handful of people were interested in staying up on the headland.

My beloved Trinidad Head was another story. After our walk out to Elk Head we did a drive by; I’ve never seen so many cars. It was bumper to bumper thru the two parking lots. Either this was the result of local cabin fever or a whole lot of tourists came into town today.

My goal for today was to seek out the native orange tiger lily before they are gone. They are currently in their full, spectacular, bloom. Worth the trip out there if your a local or happen to be in the area. The intertidal rocks at Elk head were also loaded with my favorite marine mammal, harbor seals. Here are some pics from today’s walk. #iluvtowalk #walkingmakesmehappy
