Today’s Walk: How Far Will You Go?

Note: this post may load slowly due to the video and pics but it’s worth the wait!

This morning’s walk was a walkabout Eureka, CA while our car was being serviced. It’s amazing what you can see when your focused, paying attention and on foot. I had three hours to burn up so I took the opportunity to get breakfast, enjoy the sites around town, and purposely seek out the construction site for the new Sequoia Park Zoo Canopy Walk and the new mural on the Redwood Art Association’s exterior wall.

I’ve never been a tree climber. It just isn’t my thing; even as a kid. But when I do get the chance to see professionals climb, I’m always in awe. The the adrenaline rush and the view from the top must be amazing. Today I observed a pro climbing a Redwood tree. Not something we see everyday; unless you currently work at our local Zoo or happen to be strolling thru Sequoia Park. Attached is a 1:16 minute video for your viewing pleasure.

Humboldt County is known for its big trees and awesome beaches but we are also home to one of the highest per capita rates of artists. This fact is reflected in the amount of public art one can see freely by just taking a walk. I’ve featured other public installations in previous posts. Enjoy my pics. You really gotta be here. There is so much more to see! #iluvtowalk #publicart #sequoiaparkzoo #humboldt
