Today’s Walk: Spring Blooms & Buds Make it Better

I think many of us are longing for a sense of normalcy. It’s been a year of isolation accompanied by fear that has created the weirdest of “new normals.” Is it just me, or when you happen upon strangers, like on a trail, sidewalk or even at the Post Office, does it feel like they are afraid of you? Have you crossed the street to avoid walking near others? I’m following the rules and practicing Covid safe behavior but think we have now created a strange new anti-social norm and it’s not a good thing.

The bright spot for me this week has been all the spring blooms and budding plants that I have seen on my walks and in my own backyard. I’m finding comfort in this new surge of healthy energy. It’s like nature is reminding us that life will go on. That the plants are enthusiastically bursting out of the ground in anticipation of a long lived season. I’m going to follow nature’s lead here. I think doing my best to be positive is the better alternative.

This is day two of the hunt for trillium blooms along the trail. So far, I’m only seeing the one plant. I am however, seeing new buds from a number of other plant species trying to gain their ground. Stay tuned.. it’s only just begun. Enjoy my pics! #iluvtowalk #baxteronthego #trinidadcalifirnia #humboldtcounty #humboldt

P.S. the cover photo is not a trillium.
