What a spectacular day! Our weather right now is gorgeous! And it’s enticing. It’s like the mythological Sirens are beckoning us to come out and play. Baxter and I took our usual walk. As we headed down the hill I noticed that someone had been up in the friendly skies playing with their plane. The contrail the plane left behind was big and bold. A great photo op.
In addition to the usual walkers and dog owners, it was obvious the day brought some to the beach to get outside and just play. A few kayaking, surfing and fishing. One gentleman kicking around a soccer ball. Others just popping in to quickly look at the water and snap a few photos. Even the birds were out to play flying around and sunning themselves in the trees. Days like today are a gift.
The really fortunate thing is that our local population is small. According to the 2020 Census, Humboldt County has a population of 134,623 people. Humboldt has a land base of approximately 4,000 square miles with 1.5 million acres of forest. We live behind the “Redwood Curtain.” Our City of Trinidad has grown from 359 to 367 residents. It’s a small fishing hamlet that has limited housing stock and little room for growth. Seasonal tourism changes the dynamics but with Covid-19 and shelter-in-place, right now it’s pretty quiet. So social distancing on the State Beach is easy to do. We are lucky to live here. #iluvtowalk #walkingmakesmehappy #baxteronthego

Even though I don’t comment every day I still enjoy your communications thanks so much
